The last time I ever posted a playlist was last year, and since then my music taste has transcended and I could say that I've been more open to discovering new music.
Recently, I've gotten into our country's very own indie music scene. We have got some truly talented musicians over here. And with that, I'd like to dedicate this post to five beautiful songs by Pinoy artists whom we should learn to appreciate more.
(in no particular order)
- Is This Love | Jensen and the Flips
- I would never get tired of listening to this song, ever. Jensen Gomez, you are one amazing songwriter. Every time I hear Is This Love, I am overcome by an urge to simply close my eyes and feel the music.
- Tayo Lang ang may Alam | Peryodiko
- This song is too beautiful for life. Written by Vin Dancel as a "response" to Up Dharma Down's "Indak", the song's lyrics "Tayo lang ang may alam/Nando'n sa pagitan ng paalam at pahiram" somehow speak to me on a whole different level.
- On Her Knees | MilesExperience
- Undoubtedly my favorite track on MSex's first album, this song's guitar riffs and sensual sound just get me into the groove.
- LDR | Curtismith
- Filipino rapper. Need I say more? Curtismith never disappoints, with his unwavering rhythm and perfectly penned rhymes, he is simply an artist to look out for. Mr. Mito Fabie's got that talent, and I could say he's pretty easy on the eyes too.
- Mugatu | Tom's Story
- It's not all about the lyrics though, and Tom's Story could prove that. This band's instrumental, math-rock approach on music never fails to give me chills, and Mugatu is proof of that.
